Hybrids - trials & tribulations

Draw : ballpoint, pencil, wacom pen/tablet
I'm currently working on my Hybrid drawings (ballpoint pen, pencil & digital combined).Currently 'Clap 1' which has bee in progress for some time. It is a large drawing (usual 1016 x 1372 mm) and will take hours to complete. Even I struggle to work out which bit has been done by pencil and which bit has been done with wacom pen/ tablet (printed) which can make for even slower progress. I'm working from two different source 'inky hand prints' - one for the digital drawing part and one for the second pencil layer and it can be really tricky to tell which is which.
Clap 1 (detail): pencil, wacom pen/ tablet
The only real way to tell is to look at it at a certain angle when the 'sheen' of the pencil is more visible - particularly in the darker areas - so I'm constantly having to stop drawing and move around to get a better view of what/ where I'm drawing. Much easier of course when using a ballpoint pen.

Happy New Year!!

A (slightly) belated Happy New Year to all - I hope everyone has a fantastic 2017!
2016 was a really tough one for me due to some horrendous personal stuff - not much time for drawing (or anything else). 'One Day at A Time' (2016) below reflects that - each bottle contains the residues from a days drawing - and there is a grand total of 30, with very little in them...

I am hoping things will be better this year - at least to be able to spend regular time in my studio. I really need to do some serious thinking & reflection on the direction I want my work to go so my New Year Art Resolution is just to do something (anything!) on a weekly basis until I've made some decisions.
I also need to spend some time on my website. I have just found out whilst updating issuu links (new coding, so my current links will stop working soon) that my web design software isn't up to it and has been discontinued so I have to decide whether to start from scratch, get someone else to do it or see what other alternatives are out there. So annoying! As a temporary fix I will probably just add links directly to my issuu publications (if I can remember how to update my website - it's been so long :)) Luckily the blog issuu links (sidebar) have updated fine so that's a relief.
Here's to a productive, healthy and positive 2017!

The title of the show is actually quite pertinent to how much I've posted recently - and unfortunately it's not going to get much better any time soon. 2016 has thrown me a massive curved ball,  without going into details I am likely to be absent for a bit longer. I will still be spending precious time to in my studio but am having a bit of a sabbatical in terms of applying for any opportunities so there won't be much news for a while.
